THE WANDERING FEATHER

COMING SEPTEMBER 16, 2025

Follow the journey of a feather in search of its home in Lisa's debut picture book. This is a tender, beautifully illustrated story about overcoming adversity, believing in yourself, and belonging.

IN THIS CHARMING DEBUT, A FEATHER FROM A RED-TAILED HAWK SEARCHES FOR A PLACE TO CALL HOME.

When a gust of wind blows a feather off a flying red-tailed hawk, it marks the beginning of that feather’s quest to find a new home. The feather travels to many different places but none of these spots feel right. Then, early one morning, the feather is discovered by a little girl who knows exactly where it belongs . . .

Lisa's storytelling combined with bright illustrations by August Swinson of Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation bring young readers along on this lost feather’s search for purpose and belonging.

A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR

THE MEANING BEHIND THE STORY

Hawks (and hawk feathers) are very special to me. Hawks are messengers and they will often make their presence known when they have a message for you. Finding a hawk feather is also a message from Creator. Hawks, or their feathers, have always appeared for me when I needed encouragement, guidance, or a sign that I'm on the right path. This is what inspired me to pick up a pen and write this book for my sons many years ago when they were very young. I wanted to share the messages in this story with my sons, and I am honoured that other children will get to read it too!
